Flowers make us happy. Why’s that? Is it just common sense?
If you browse the Internet a little, you’ll find a few facts about the power of flowers. They say interior plants are proven to have extensive benefits for office people: they improve health, motivation and task performance. There must be some truth in it since our clients say they love having real indoor plants in ETCV; with their bright colours and changing displays they are such a welcoming sight, particularly on dull winter mornings.
So thank you Briony for lifting our spirits every morning when we come to work! It’s funny our flower lady is called Briony, which is a very rare name derived from the name of a plant with little green flowers. Maybe our names are predestined after all.
Briony says she likes coming to our Edinburgh Training and Conference Venue because she has nice chats with everyone and feels the work she loves is being appreciated. She says “plants don’t talk” (hmmm…. I think Prince Charles would disagree with that) which she believes in some ways is good because this means her work is stress free. On the other hand, she feels lonely at times, so she loves when people are taking the time to ask how her day’s going.
Our flower lady revealed one day that she has a degree in Art and Design (am I surprised?) and that, besides working for In-Plants Scotland, our interior plants services provider, she also runs her own gardening business. She thinks her passion to create beautiful landscapes is really important for her business, but then so her desire to make people happy.
Briony reminds us that happiness comes from simple things and that there must be a balance in everything we do. So do what you’re passionate about and don’t forget to stop for a minute and enjoy the sight of a beautiful flower.
