On Wednesday the 11th of December 2013, we here at the Edinburgh Training and Conference Venue hosted a Christmas lunch for the Pilmeny Development Project.
We held the three course Christmas lunch for the elderly in our restaurant which went down fantastically. There was a barbershop quartet which one of the members were a part of and we held a raffle consisting of various gifts such as slippers, a luxury bath set, an M&S Christmas hamper and boxes of thorntons chocolates which were all received gratefully. The staff here got involved, from greeting them at the front door, showing them down to the restaurant, helping out in the kitchen, waiting on the tables and washing up. Everyone loved it as the photos show!
Pilmeny Development Project based in Leith works to support people and groups of North East Edinburgh. This includes work with older people and local youth. The project’s volunteers reduce social isolation for older people by helping them stay healthy and confident. This is within the “Community Connecting” and “Timebank” initiatives. The Project welcomes new volunteers – if you are interested please phone 0131 553 2559
