Summer Nights at the Zoo!
RZSS Edinburgh Zoo has captured many headlines since the end of 2011 when giant pandas Tian Tian, “Sweetie”, and Yang Guang, “sunshine”, arrived.
Since then thousands have seen them live at the Zoo, while many more have watched them on one of the zoo’s live webcams. Actually you can also watch the penguins and squirrel monkeys on live webcams.
The zoo also has a very good rating on Trip Advisor, a comforting fact when you’re planning a day out … or in this case, a night out!
This summer, in only its second year, you can be part of the most unique event in Edinburgh at the Zoo’s after-hours Summer Nights! Running on Thursday 23rd and Thursday 30th June, you’ll have an exclusive chance to relax and unwind as the sun goes down, enjoying the idyllic setting and seeing the animals as they too bask in the dusky summer night.
From 6pm to 10pm you’ll be able to walk around the Zoo, plus you’ll get all the entertainment exclusive to the Summer Nights events. You just need to be aware that the pandas will be in bed so you’ll need to see them on a separate visit during the day.
Leave the kids at home and enjoy locally sourced food in the beautiful gardens and discover the hidden world of the Zoo, learning all about animals, conservation and the scientific work undertaken by this conservation charity.
Visit fun interactive science stations and meet keepers and scientists. Have you ever wanted to know what the DNA of a strawberry daiquiri is, or how to make a colourful penguin wing band? Well now is your chance to find out. Other attractions include a silent disco, comedians and quirky photo stations.
