If you Love Comedy ... - Edinburgh Training and Conference Venue

Edinburgh Comedy Tour 3If you Love Comedy …

Edinburgh Comedy Tour is an award-winning, audio walking tour with a difference! A free app for download to smartphones or tablets, this is part Fringe play and part guided tour, led by two comedians.

Jamie MacDonald and Harry Gooch explore the history of famous Fringe venues including the Underbelly and, of course, The Stand Comedy Club in York Place … and you can enjoy it any time that suits you!

Don’t miss the Fringe daily draw for tickets to The Stand – details below

Jamie is a stand up comedian who performs live at the Fringe under the name That Funny Blind Guy.  As he is genuinely blind he loved the idea of being asked to lead a guided tour: ‘A blind guy, leading a walking tour, how’s that going to work?’

Edinburgh Comedy Tour 4The answer was to enlist the help of another comedian, Harry Gooch. Jamie plays the part of a history professor, Harry his accident prone helper. But Harry just happens to be a master of improv so the tour takes unexpected twists and turns as this disarmingly odd couple move from one mishap to another through the crowded streets of the Festival city.

Edinburgh Comedy Tour 2Edinburgh Comedy Tour leads from outside the Fringe Shop in the Royal Mile through famous venues including the Underbelly, Gilded Balloon and Pleasance Theatre to a final nail-biting climax just before they reach The Stand Comedy Club. It is all unashamedly irreverent but you also learn a fair amount of historical fact about Scotland’s capital and some of its less savoury characters.

The tour covers a lot of ground and is well worth doing on foot as you pass many places of interest with lots of bars and cafes on the way. But in the unlikely event of rain (Scotland is famous for its sunshine and hot summers after all) you can find somewhere warm and comfortable to listen to the show on headphones.  Although it is perfect for Fringe visitors it can be enjoyed any time of the year.

For 2016, Walking Heads is also publishing a companion tour, Backstage Gossip, a conversation between comedians Susan Morrison and Bruce Morton (favourites at The Stand) sharing true stories of hilarious unplanned events involving other comedians both on and off the stage. Names like Miles Jupp and Johnny Vegas crop up.   And have you heard the one about Frankie Boyle and Jerry Sadowitz?
